Saturday, September 9, 2017 – 6:00 PM brief

  • A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Chatham County
  • A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Chatham County
  • A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for parts of Chatham County
  • A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Chatham County
  • Talmadge Memorial Bridge on US 17 will be closing at noon on Sunday.
  • EAA (Evacuation Assembly Area):
  • Helped 2,500 people evacuate TODAY
  • Will start Sunday at 8 a.m. for anyone still wishing to evacuate
  • The City of Port Wentworth evacuation assistance:
  • Anyone wishing to evacuate must be at City Hall Sunday morning by 10 AM
  • The bus will leave promptly at 10 AM
  • If someone needs a ride to City Hall, please call Mayor Glenn Jones at (912) 657-2889 and arrangements for pick-up will be made
  • The City of Bloomingdale:
    • They have no plans to turn off water service
    • If residents lose power the septic system grinder pump motor will not work
  • Emergency Services:
  • If we sustain winds of 39 mph, emergency services will be suspended until weather permits
