When 82-year-old Mary Barrineau was attacked near a bank in Tampa Bay, she refused to become a statistic. Despite her age, she fought back against a thief who wanted her purse — and who was armed. She grabbed onto the attacker’s shirt and refused to let go. The elderly woman’s yells got the attention of two strangers, who quickly ran over to help her fight her attacker. Perhaps without knowing, they parked their cars right behind the thief’s vehicle, preventing her escape. The thief begged Mary to let go of her shirt but she held on until police arrived at the scene.
