The filth left behind in Chippewa Square after the parade has gone viral

Chippewa Square looked much like it did following the 2017 Saint Patrick's Day parade.

A photo posted to the City of Savannah's St. Patrick's Day page showed city crews trying to clean up a square that was trashed for the second consecutive year.

Leading up to the parade, city officials made public pleas to people asking them to clean up their trash, and not leave it behind. City officials have not commented outside of their post, which read "From earlier today: city workers clearing the mess left in Chippewa Square."

Their post did draw several comments from people who expressed disappointment and anger.
