Social Media Threat Found to be Non Credible in Bluffton

Social Media Threat Found to be Non-Credible

This morning around 7:30AM, the Bluffton Police Department was made aware of a threat made on social

media involving Bluffton and May River High Schools. Investigators immediately notified the school district,

and both schools were placed on modified lockdown. During the lockdown there was a large presence of police

officers on both school campuses.

Investigators were quickly able to find where and who posted the threat, which proved to be from someone out

of state and, therefore, the threat was deemed non-credible.

At approximately 11:30 AM, the Bluffton Police Department recommended the lockdown be lifted.

Tonight’s rival football game between Bluffton HS and May River HS will go on as planned. There will be a large

presence of police officers at the game due to the large crowds expected and to assist with traffic control.

A statement from Captain Babkiewicz regarding the incident can be found on the Bluffton Police Department and

Town of Bluffton Facebook pages. https://www.facebook.com/blufftonpolice/
