SOME WANT DISNEY TO CHANGE THEME OF SPLASH MOUNTAIN FROM SONG OF THE SOUTH

Some are calling for Disney to change the theme of Splash Mountain, one of its best-known and popular attractions at Disney World, Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland. The ride's theme is based on the 1946 Disney movie,Song of the South, which the company has kept unreleased for decades because of its stereotypical racial depictions. A petition has been created urging Disney to make the change, and it's being suggested that the ride's theme should be made over to that of 2009's The Princess and the Frog, which had Disney's first black princess, Tiana. Splash Mountain shows scenes from Song of the South with characters including Br'er Rabbit, and is set to the movie's Academy Award-winning song, "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah."

In the meantime, hop on and enjoy a ride from the front seat of Splash Mountain.
