It all started with a billboard along Interstate 15 in Salt Lake City, Utah, that read “LDS Millionaire looking for his wife, exclusive VIP event June 7.” LDS meaning Latter-day Saints’ and Millionaire meaning rich guy. Within days, several hundred women visited a website to fill out an extensive application, which featured a drop-down menu for “body type.”
… Their potential future husband: a “tall, dark and handsome” man who is “between 31 and 45 years old” and “is 6 feet, 1 inch tall.”
… Before the website was closed around 2,500 women filled out the form. The Mormon bachelor chose 20 finalists to engage in a Bachelor-style event at a country club in Utah. He chose women from all over the country — including Utah, New York, Louisiana, and Idaho — and made them all sign a non-disclosure agreement that forbid them from revealing his identity.
… According to the Salt Lake Tribune the man’s identity remains a mystery.
… The event consisted of the following:
- A PowerPoint presentation detailing the top 10 reasons he chose to look for a wife through a matchmaking event.
- A four-course group meal.
- Group conversation.
A five-minute, one-on-one “mini-date” with each woman.
