Presidential candidate Andrew Yang breaks down during town hall

Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang broke into tears while discussing gun violence at an Everytown for Gun Safety event in Iowa on Saturday (August 10th). The entrepreneur, a political novice who is polling in the low single digits, became emotional after a woman in the audience asked how he'd deal with accidental shootings by children and spoke about how her four-year-old daughter had been killed by a stray bullet eight years ago and the little girl's twin brother saw it. After giving the woman a hug, Yang began speaking about his own two young children, saying, "I have a 6- and 3-year-old boy, and I was imagining... " and then put his hand over his face and broke down in tears. He managed to continue, "I was imagining it was one of them that got shot and the other saw it," and broke down in tears again. Yang went on to answer the question, saying that the answer is to have "personalized" guns that prevent anyone other than the owner from firing them.
