Have you seen the price gouging for hand sanitizer on Amazon?

Social media is going crazy about the prices being charged (mostly online) for hand sanitizer. A one ounce bottle of Purell was seen on Amazon for $275.00 (see below)

According to Bloomberg News, Amazon is clamping down on price gouging and also any products making outstanding or unverifiable claims about coronovirus treatment. This virus has spooked shoppers into stocking up on products they may not need and in quantities that are not necessary. Amazon says they have removed or blocked more than 1 million products with misleading claims or unreasonable prices.

According to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, if soap and water aren't available use any hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Check for the cheapest ones and generally those are store brands. Be sure to wash your hands often. The CDC says you should:

wet your hands and turn off the water

apply soap and lather, scrubbing for at least 20 seconds (sing Happy Birthday twice)

Rinse with warm water

Dry with a clean towel
