Miami is one of the first cities to require a face mask when out in public

Effective at midnight it became law in Miami to wear a face mask if you're out shopping or if you work at a retail establishment. And those retailers can deny service if you don't

Mayor Francis Suarez tweeted:

Today we ordered everyone to wear masks that is working at or is a customer to a grocery store, convenience store, pharmacy, retail food facility and restaurant, as well as construction workers and people making deliveries. We need to protect each other! We will win this

The order requires employees and customers in grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies and convenience stores to wear masks while on the premises. The new mandate also extends to construction and food delivery workers.

In March, the mayor tested positive, his spokesperson said. On Wednesday, he shared the city's order on Twitter. "We need to protect each other!" he wrote in thetweet. "We will win this!"

Other cities have taken similar measures. Earlier this week, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcettiannounced an orderurging all employees and customers of essential businesses to wear face coverings.
