Didn't get your stimulus check yet? The IRS has a new push to get your $$

Didn't get your stimulus check? Or perhaps you didn't get the additional payment for your kids back in the spring. Many were supposed to get an additional $500 per child.

The IRS website states that parents who qualify for the extra $500 per child should use theIRS.gov non-filers toolstarting through September 30th. Here you'll be able to enter information on your children that qualify.

As of right now, the IRS expects that catch-up payments will be issued by the middle of October. If you didn't receive a stimulus check for yourself and aren't required to file taxes, you should also use the non-filers' tool. If you choose to do so, you'll need to fill it out by October 15th to get your payment this year.

The IRS says that "Anyone who misses the Oct. 15 deadline will need to wait until next year and claim it as a credit on their 2020 federal income tax return." Keep in mind no additional action is needed by taxpayers who already filed their tax returns for 2019, the IRS will use that info to calculate the correct payment amount. If you have not filed yet for 2019, but filed for a 2018 federal tax return, the IRS will use your 2018 information to make the Economic Impact Payment calculations.
