The City of Plymouth, Minnesota, which with a population of around 80,000 is one of the larger suburbs of Minneapolis–Saint Paul, has a special request for residents: call 911 on dog owners who don’t clean up after their pets. City Water Resources Supervisor Ben Scharenbroich says 911 should be called because “we’re very concerned about our lakes and streams.” But some residents of Plymouth think calling 911 when they see a dog owner not scooping the poop is overkill. And Mike Nordean, the owner of the doggie cleanup company Turd Nerds, agrees: “It’s the first time I’ve seen such steps in Minnesota.”
