SOFTBALL UMPIRE PUNCHED IN THE FACE BY MOM WITH “MOTHER OF THE YEAR” SHIRT

A Mississippi youth league softball ump got decked by a parent after a 12-year-old’s softball game. Kristi Moore said she ejected Kiara Thomas from the game for incessant profanity, as well as arguing calls, from the bleachers, and then was attacked in the parking lot after the game. Thomas was charged with simple assault, and according to the Laurel, Mississippi, Police Department, she has been banned from all rec league activities and facilities in the county. Her child’s entire team was also removed from the tournament.… Thomas was wearing a “Mother of the Year” shirt when she punched the umpire.

Umpire Kristi Moore was kind enough to share her story with TBS in this exclusive interview. The assailant was charged with simple assault. The penalty needs to be stiffer to help prevent this from happening in the future
