Doctors at the Paideia International Hospital in Rome removed a tumor from a patients' brain...while he played the saxophone.

The 35-year-old patient, known as G.Z., was awake during the 9-hour surgery to help doctors map his brain function.

"The goal of awake surgery is to remove the brain tumor or a vascular malformation such as cavernomas located in specific areas of the brain, while preserving the patient's quality of life," Dr. Christian Brogna said.

The surgery was a success, and hopefully G.Z. will be playing a lot more...without someone in his head!
