A TikToker conducted a swab test on a public baby changing station’s plastic table and discovered what most parents probably could have told them: the tables are riddled with bacteria likely from microscopic water droplets spraying from flushing toilets. … While the video does not specify what bacteria were found, previous studies have found fecal matter, salmonella, listeria, and norovirus. Researchers offer up the most obvious and practical advice, which is to use sanitary wipes on the fold-down changing tables and, if available, disposable changing pads. Just remember that reusable pads carry bacteria from the tray home with you.
