Why was Phil Stinger the only passenger on this American Airlines flight?

A guy named Phil Stinger accidentally received a private plane experience after his American Airlines flight from Oklahoma City to Charlotte was delayed 18 hours causing everyone else to give up. Stinger was the only passenger on the flight and spent his time joking around with the flight crew. The flight attendants went through the full boarding process and safety demonstrations on the almost empty plane. Here's his video
