WATCH! CAT AT CENTER OF CUSTODY BATTLE AFTER GOING MISSING FOR TEN YEARS

A black and white male tuxedo cat has become the subject of a custody battle after turning up in a new state 10 years after going missing. The cat, now named Maui, was brought to an animal hospital in North Carolina after being found outside a few weeks ago. Veterinarians discovered that the cat had a microchip, which led them to the original owner, Carol Holmes, who currently resides in Kansas.

… Holmes explained that her cat, whom she named Bob, had run away a decade ago. At the same time, Alexandra Streight found the cat and had been caring for him ever since. Streight renamed the cat Maui and took him with her when she moved to North Carolina. Both Holmes and Streight have claimed ownership of the cat since Streight found him near her property.

However, North Carolina authorities have decided that the cat should be returned to Holmes back in Kansas.
