Why this woman was bringing giraffe poop from Africa into the United States

Customs officials in Minnesota seized a box of giraffe poop from a traveler who planned to turn the remains into a necklace.

The Iowa resident was returning from Kenya and declared the feces upon landing in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

"The passenger also stated in the past she had used moose feces at her home in Iowa," the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement.

The giraffe waste was destroyed using steam sterilization. CPB said any feces brought by an overseas traveler require a veterinary services permit. Here's how a TV station covered this unusual story:
