Laila Ali to headline the 22nd annual SmartWomen Luncheon & Expo

It's one of my favorite events every year--for two good reasons. For the compelling and interesting guest speaker with a message about their own experiences and passionate concerns. And for the ability to help the Mary Telfair Mammography fund to assist women get the medical care and diagnosis they need. It's The Smart Women Luncheon and Expo sponsored by St. Joseph/Candler, and this year's 22nd annual event presents a boxer, chef, role model and TV host Laila Ali sharing her energy and stories about her life’s journey to success to Savannah as the keynote speaker.

And if you didn't know, yes she is the daughter of boxing great Muhammad Ali, Laila Ali has blazed her own path beyond her undefeated boxing career by setting new benchmarks for women both in the media and as a role model. She has provided expert commentary for NBC Sports and other television programs and uses her platform to advocate for equality for women in sports. She became a chef and founded her own lifestyle brand. She's even shown her fun side with an appearance on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"

“Laila Ali is the perfect continuation of inspiring SmartWomen speakers at the preeminent event in this region,” said Winston Pittman, Sr., President/Owner of Chatham Parkway Lexus and Hilton Head Lexus. “The impact that the Telfair Mammography Fund has had on our community is immeasurable, and we continue to see an amazing level of support for this event as last year’s record-breaking results shows. It is our privilege to be the presenting sponsor for this incredible event.”

We also want to thank Savannah Chatham Imaging, who is again this year’s Speaker Sponsor and who also supports the Telfair Mammography Fund through their many years of service to our program. This year's event takes place Wednesday October 9 at the Savannah Convention Center, and 98.7 The River is once again proud to be a sponsor. There are a limited amount of tickets, so get yours by calling the St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundations at 912-819-8683 for more information or sponsorship opportunities.
