"Price Is Right" contestant makes best Showcase bid in the show's history

On Friday's episode "Price Is Right" contestant Patrice Masse from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, made it all the way to the Showcase Showdown, where he placed a bid of $39,500 on a package including a trip to Miami and a car. What happened next surprised even host Drew Carey. After taking a look at the actual retail price, Carey took a few surprised steps backwards and stared, mouth open, at the card in his hand. "So, let me tell ya..." he began, as the crowd whooped with anticipation. "Thirty-nine thousand, five-oh-ONE."

Current Price Is Right rules state that any contestant whose Showcase bid comes within $250 without going over wins both packages — a rare distinction known as the "Double Showcase Winner." Watch Drew's reaction here.
