Authorities in Maine are investigating after a video surfaced on Reddit showing a man in Portland, Maine, abusing turtles. The video captures the man picking up turtles and tossing them, even smashing their shells together. These turtles, likely mothers preparing to lay their eggs, were targeted by the man in their nesting season. Witnesses reported seeing the man take one turtle to his car, in violation of Maine law which allows the capture of snapping turtles but prohibits their abuse. The investigation is ongoing.
