Katie Ledecky made a stunning statement at the Paris 2024 Olympics by breaking her own Olympic record in the women’s 1500-meter freestyle, finishing with a time of 15:30.02. This victory marks her first gold medal of the Games and adds to her illustrious career, bringing her total Olympic gold to eight. Ledecky’s performance was dominant, as she led the race from the start, finishing an impressive ten seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. She is now tied with Jenny Thompson for the most Olympic Medals by an American Woman in any sport in history.
