Miami Beach Urges Spring Breakers To Avoid The Area In New Reality Show PSA

Miami Beach wants spring breakers to stay clear of the city when looking for a place to party next month.

The City has issued a PSA that shows a group of young would-be party-goers heading to the city, only to realize they're not welcome there quickly. Modeled after shows such as Jersey Shore, complete with the Spring Breakers talking directly to the camera and expressing their shock, the PSA lays out how the city isn't the party paradise some might think.

At the end of the PSA, the city summarizes what Spring Breakers can expect if they pull up to Miami Beach next month: $100 parking, curfews, a lot of police, security checkpoints, and DUI enforcement.

"Consistent with last year’s spring break, Miami Beach will once again impose tough measures in March to reinforce the message that the city is not interested in being a spring break party destination," reads the website for the Reality Check campaign. "Disorderly crowds, lawless behavior, and violence will not be tolerated."

The PSA is part of an effort from the city to crack down on all the partying that happens there each year on Spring Break weekend. Miami Beach Commissioner Alex Fernandez explained why they launched the initiative last year. "Over the past 10 years, [there were] 33 shootings alone during the spring break period," he told NPR in 2024. "Last year, 16 stampedes on a small stretch of Ocean Drive, on that beautiful, iconic Art Deco postcard that should bring joy and happiness to tourists of our city."
