Tampa bus driver Barbara Baker rescued a lost child she found wandering alone in the road, bringing him safely onto her bus and staying with him until police arrived.
Her employer, the Hillsborough Transit Authority, praised her quick thinking and compassion, noting that operators are trained to spot safety risks like missing children.
The agency is holding up Baker’s actions as an example of how transit workers protect and serve their communities beyond their transportation duties.
