CEMA Reminder of Curfew and Enforceability

 SAVANNAH, GA (September 10, 2017) – Chatham County Emergency Management (CEMA) is acting under a Declaration of Local Emergency signed by Chairman Al Scott on September 7, 2017.  Today, Chairman Scott, after consultation with other leaders, issued a county wide curfew that will be in effect from 10:00 p.m. tonight until Monday, September 11, 2017 at 6 a.m.  CEMA would like to remind residents of the curfew and its enforceability.  All persons, without exception, MUST abide by the curfew for Chatham County.  Per Chatham County code 4-315; it shall be unlawful for any person to travel, loiter, wander or stroll in the public streets or public grounds during the curfew. Please be mindful that Zone A is still under mandatory evacuation and no one is permitted in the defined geographic area.   Consequences for such action could result in citation with fine of $1000 and or up to 60 days in jail
