Beatles' Christmas Recordings due for release

Back in the sixties, kids who were members of The Beatles fan club were privvy to their annual Christmas messages which were sent only to members.

They were usually very silly, fun, and topics of conversation among Beatles aficionados.

The Beatles world was buzzing all yesterday (October 31st) with the news that some sort of new release was about to be announced for the coming Christmas season. Although a formal, official press release is due to come out this week -- possibly as early as today (November 1st), Beatlefan magazine has scooped all the other by posting, "Unconfirmed rumors are circulating online of possible Christmas Beatles releases, including a box set of colored vinyl singles of the Fabs' Christmas messages and a Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band picture disc. Also due is a 'Sgt. Pepper' jukebox that already had been announced."

Between 1963 and 1969 the Beatles released specially produced Christmas flexi-discs to fan club members featuring outlandish comedy and new, original music. In 1970 all of the fan club messages were collected for a single LP album. Save for the 1967 song "Christmas Time (Is Here Again)," which served as the B-side to the group's 1995 "Free As A Bird" reunion single, none of the material has ever been officially released.
