MAN RECEIVES LETTER GRANTING HIS DOG UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS

A dog in Michigan received a letter that he had been approved for $360 in weekly unemployment benefits. The German Shepherd, named Ryder, had supposedly been employed at an upscale seafood restaurant. Ryder’s owner, an attorney in Saugatuck, Michigan, said he was surprised when he received the benefits letter on behalf of his dog. The letter was addressed to Michael Ryder — a merging of the attorney’s name and his dog’s name. The Michigan unemployment office admits its computer system had sent the letter, but that it was later was flagged as suspicious and denied.
