Meet Golden Olympian MIKAELA SHIFFRIN

22-year-old Mikaela Shiffrin will stake her claim as the best skier on Earth this month at the 2018 Winter Olympics, and one key to her success is getting a lot of sleep. Shiffrin takes her sleep seriously. She goes to bed at 9 each night. And she naps. A lot. She told Outside magazine last year: “I have to get a full night of sleep and a nap pretty much every day in order to perform at the level that I want to. I can get pretty loopy when I don’t nap.”

MIKAELA SHIFFRIN IMPOSES SOCIAL MEDIA BLACKOUT DURING OLYMPICS _ There are a couple of things that make skier Mikaela Shiffrin different from most 22-year-olds: she has an early bed time — 9 PM — and she’s not on social media. At least, not during her time at the Winter Olympics. Mikaela has stayed off of Instagram, Twitter and Facebook since arriving in South Korea. She says it has helped block out distractions tied to the expectations for her to win multiple medals at the 2018 Winter Olympics.  She says her agent has handled the occasional posts on her accounts during her social media blackout.
