Kelly Clarkson plays with puppies while answering fans' questions

In a video for Buzzfeed, in which she answers fan questions while playing with puppies, Kelly Clarkson was asked if she’s heard from any of the people who inspired her new album, Meaning of Life.

“It’s so funny that you should say that, because I did get a handwritten letter from Michelle Obama about [my song] ‘Go High,’ which I obviously wrote inspired by the message she gave at the Democratic convention,” Kelly said.

During the 2016 Democratic National Convention, Mrs. Obama gave a memorable speech in which she said, “When they go low, we go high.”

Kelly was also asked what song she’d really like to cover as a “fan request” on her next tour, which she has yet to announce. “Anything from the Harry Styles album. I love it!” she gushed. “Or Evolve, Imagine Dragons. That’s good. I love both those albums right now, they’re pretty rad.”

Asked about her own favorite songs to perform on tour, Kelly said, “My favorite old-school song, like, from the beginning is ‘Miss Independent.’ Live, it’s so much better than on record!  My favorite new song to perform ever... is ‘Whole Lotta Woman.’ It gives me life on so many levels.”

Kelly’s other revelations included:

- If she could pick four other singers to form a “bad a** girl band,” she’d choose P!nk, Jessie J, Alicia Keys and Adele.

- If she needed a babysitter at the last minute, and had to choose between Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul or American Idol Season 1 runner-up Justin Guarini, she’d pick Simon because she “likes a person that can discipline.”

- If she was in trouble and she could only call one person, and had to choose between Blake Shelton, Adam Levine or Alicia Keys, she’d choose Blake, because “people fall for the Southern charm.”

- In 2012, when she asked P!nk, Jessie J and Lady Gaga via Twitter to record a particular song with her, none of them ever got back to her. The track, “Dance with Me,” ended up on her album Piece by Piece.
