Labs are still our favorite dogs...but look who's gaining in popularity

 Labrador retrievers are the most popular dog in the U.S. for a 27th straight year, according to the annual ranking released yesterday (March 28th) by the American Kennel Club. German shepherds also remained in second place and golden retrievers in third, but French bulldogs jumped into fourth place, the highest ranking ever for the breed, which has soared from 76th to fourth in just 20 years. Rounding out the top 10 are bulldogs are fifth, followed by beagles, poodles, Rottweilers, Yorkshire terriers and German shorthaired pointers. In other movement in the ranking, the Siberian husky and Australian shepherd have moved into the top 20 in the last decade, which the Chihuahua, pug and Maltese have fallen out of it.
