Man Body-Searched During Traffic Stop By N.J. State Troopers Plans to Sue

A man who was body-searched during a roadside traffic stop by a New Jersey state trooper last year has filed a notice of intent to sue, claiming he was sexually assaulted and had his civil rights violated. In a video recently posted by the open government group New Jersey Libertarians for Transparency, the 23-year-old man can be seen being searched by a trooper who claimed he smelled like marijuana. The man says several times that he doesn't have any pot and questions if the search is legal. The search included the officer putting on latex gloves and searching the man's genital area, while the man yelled, "You better hope this is legal. Did you find it? Did you find it? Yo, you guys are really ridiculous." No drugs were found on the man's body or in his car, but he was given a ticket for tailgating. New Jersey State Police say that an internal investigation into the traffic stop is ongoing, but the two troopers involved are still on duty.
