One of these singers will be the next American Idol but...

On Sunday’s episode of American idol, the top 14 contestants performed solo, and for the first time this season, America had a hand in placing at least a portion of the contenders through to the next round. Voting opened during Sunday’s show and closes Monday at 9 a.m. [ET]. Viewers were instructed to vote online, in the American Idol app or via text, where they could vote 10 times per contestant, per method. The top six moved on based on America’s vote. The remaining eight artists  performed once more last night, with judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryandeciding which four will be added to the top 10.

Last night was an emotional night, full of stand-out performances. Here are some highlights, including who made it into the Top 10.

American Idol 2018 Top 10 Contestants

  • Ada Vox
  • Cade Foehner
  • Caleb Lee Hutchinson
  • Catie Turner
  • Dennis Lorenzo
  • Gabby Barrett
  • Jurnee
  • Maddie Poppe
  • Michael J. Woodard
  • Michelle Sussett

The Judges’ Final Picks

After saving Ada Vox, it was down to the judges to choose three more contestants to move on to the Top 10. They chose Jurnee, Michelle Sussett, and Dennis Lorenzo.

Ada Vox was the last performance of Monday night, having just found out that she was not safe from America’s Vote the night before. But immediately after her song, judge Katy Perry, along with judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, told her to take a seat in the Top 10.

Gabby Barrett closed the show on Sunday night with a performance of Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” that had Katy Perry jealous of her trip through the “star-wash” and had Lionel Richie exclaiming “a star is born.”

Michael J. Woodard didn’t stop with his eclectic song choices on Sunday night, when he performed David Guetta featuring Sia’s “Titanium.”

The judges were shocked on Monday night when they found out that America’s Vote hadn’t kept Jurnee safe, and after her performance of “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman, they let America know just how much they disagreed with that decision.

Garrett Jacobs, Jonny Brenns, Mara Justine, and Marcio Donaldson all saw their American Idol 2018 journey come to an end.

However in choosing the finalists some very talented people were sent packing; in my opinion. two of those were better than most who made the top 10.

The Top 10 will compete for America’s Vote as American Idol goes live coast-to-coast Sunday on ABC which means the west coast will see the show live and not on a tape delay as in the past.
