Help the American Legion install an elevator: Warrior Lift Auction Night

You can help the American Legion with their campaign to raise the money to install an elevator in the Bull Street American Legion building. As you may know, the current building (built in the late 1700’s and originally occupied by the Chatham Artillery Unit and later the place that the Mighty 8th Airforce was born) is inaccessible to the older veterans, our wounded warriors, as well as the older and disabled residents of Savannah interested in attending events in the building. About 18 months ago, the Warrior Lift project was launched in an effort to remedy this situation.

On Saturday, June 23rd, the Legion (post 135) is hosting a fundraising event complete with food, live music, and more than 80 silent and live auction items. Unfortunately, with less than 2 weeks until the event, we’ve only sold a little over 40 tickets (our goal is 250). The tickets are very reasonable ($25 per person/$40 per couple) and include a beverage, food, music, and a chance to win up to $1,000 in cash prizes!! It’s a great value and a great cause (who wouldn’t want to provide our "warriors" with access to the building that was built for them (service during active war periods is required for membership in the American Legion).
