Walmart Removes 'Impeach 45' Clothes From Website After Outcry

Walmart has removed clothing from its website that says "Impeach 45" -- meaning President Trump, the 45th president -- after an outcry from Trump supporters. The T-shirts and baby onesies were gone yesterday (July 4th) after the retailer had said a day earlier that they'd be pulled, that coming in response to conservative commentator Ryan Fournier tweeting about the clothing and asking why it was being sold. That tweet led to an online backlash from other Trump supporters and calls for a Walmart boycott. Walmart tweeted: "These items were sold by third-party sellers on our open marketplace and were not offered directly by Walmart. We're removing these types of items pending review of our marketplace policies." CNN notes, however, that Walmart is still selling shirts with political messages, including negative ones about Trump and Hillary Clinton, and that other retailers, including Amazon, are continuing to sell the "Impeach 45" clothing.

The outcry sparked a #BoycottWalmart trend on Twitter as users expressed their distaste for the chain promoting the impeachment of President Trump, echoing some Congressional Democrats.
