CRUISE LINE FACING ANGER AFTER POLAR BEAR SHOT AND KILLED

A German cruise line is facing anger from critics after one of its workers shot and killed a polar bear in Norway after it attacked another employee. The Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ship was docked at an island in a Norwegian archipelago Saturday (July 28th) when the bear attacked one member of the four-person guard team hired by the cruise line to go on shore before the passengers to make sure there aren't any polar bears in the area. The other guards fatally shot the bear. The first guard was airlifted out for treatment after suffering non-fatal head injuries. The company said, "There had to be intervention for reasons of self-defense and to protect the life of the attacked person. We are extremely sorry that this incident has happened." Among the critics was British actor and comedian Ricky Gervais, who tweeted: "'Let's get too close to a polar bear in its natural environment and then kill it if it gets too close,' Morons."
