Harper's Bazaar spotlights "The First Families Of Music"

Some of pop’s top stars have been photographed with their children for a feature called “First Families of Music” in the September fashion issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Rock icon Bruce Springsteen and his daughter Jessica are the cover stars of the issue, and inside, you’ll find photos of Christina Aguilera posing with her kids Max Liron Bratman and Summer Rain Rutler and Mariah Carey with her twins Monroe and Moroccan Cannon. There are also photos of current American Idol judge Lionel Richie with daughter Nicole Richie and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler with daughter Liv. Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris is also part of the feature. Harper’s Bazaar shares the artists’ comments on parenting: “Family is the most important thing to me,” says Mariah, who shares her kids with ex-husband Nick Cannon. “My children have provided me with such joy as they’ve developed their own unique personalities.” Christina Aguilera says, “I love being mama bear and providing support, strength, and a safe haven to my babies and loved ones, knowing that, above all else, it’s the most important job I have.” Lionel Richiels wishes for his children: “I wish for my kids to discover who they are and explore their passions to the fullest.” Nicole Richie’s similarity to her dad: “My dad and I will do anything for a laugh. If that means we’re the butt of the joke, so be it. In a nutshell, we’re desperate show ponies.” Bruce Springsteen says the best advice he’s given his daughter is to “Keep your focus on what you really care about.” Meanwhile, Kanye West looks like a typical dad in his photo with daughter North and son Saint, who he shares with wife Kim Kardashian. Notably absent from the photo is the couple’s 6-month-old daughter, Chicago. “I hope my children never lose their confidence to society,” he told the magazine. The September issue is on newsstands August 21st.
