A 47-year-old Utah man flew a small plane into his own house early Monday morning (August 13th) with his wife and child inside, hours after he'd been arrested for assaulting his wife. The front of the house in the city of Payson was engulfed in flames and the pilot of the twin-engine Cessna, Duane Youd, was killed, but his wife and child survived. Investigators believe the plane belonged to Youd’s employer, and said that Youd an experienced pilot. Court records show that Youd agreed last month to attend marriage and family counselling as part of a plea agreement after another domestic violence incident in April.
