Waffle House has a little-known menu option that expands the reach of its 24/7 breakfast empire: a food truck. The restaurant chain’s catering department added a food truck five years ago, but its existence has recently gained some national attention thanks to an appearance at a couple’s wedding in South Carolina. Waffle House, which has about 1,900 restaurants in 25 states, decided to get a food truck for catering because the Atlanta area restaurants had so many catering requests.
… To rent the truck, which is based in Atlanta, customers put down a $90 rental fee and pay $50 per hour for travel time and the duration of the event – be it a birthday, wedding or company party. Big events, which expect to fork out more than $1,000 on waffles, omelettes and other dishes, require a 50 percent deposit in advance.
… On the scene, the cooks in the truck prepare whatever dishes your heart desires. And long distance travel for events outside Georgia may include the cost of lodging the truck’s team. And the truck does travel. Waffle House has sent the truck several times to events in Florida.
