The Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey released a bizarre video as his House of Cards character Frank Underwood as news broke that he was charged with indecent assault.
Spacey played Underwood to great acclaim in the Netflix series, until multiple accusations of sexual assault emerged against him. Netflix fired him. On the show, Underwood is a scheming, homicidal politician. In the video, Spacey as Underwood says: "But you wouldn't believe the worst without evidence would you?," seemingly a reference to the charges against him.
While many have shared their allegations against Spacey, this is the first formal charge. The 59-year-old has been charged with sexually abusing an 18-year-old boy at a Nantucket, Massachusetts bar two+ years ago.
In his rant, Spacey said: "You wouldn't rush to judgments without facts would you? Did you? No, not you, you are smarter than that."
The once House of Cards star and esteemed Hollywood actor has fallen out of favor with the public after allegations of sexual misconduct erupted last fall. Kevin Spacey, 59, broke his silence early this week, using social media to act as his "House of Cards" character Frank Underwood in an odd video he posted, titled "Let Me Be Frank". The video lasted for over three minutes, and includes a monologue, where he states, "Soon enough, you will know the full truth." Spacey is due in court January 7 on the island of Nantucket, on the charges of indecent assault and battery. If he is convicted, he could be facing up to five years in prison.
