A North Carolina community came together Friday night to celebrate officials finding a 3-year-old boy who was lost in the woods for nearly three days. Casey Lynn Hathaway, who was found alive Thursday night after disappearing from his grandmother’s yard, is doing well. His mother shared on Facebook: “Casey is healthy, smiling, and talking. He said he hung out with a bear for two days…”
As it turned out, help – perhaps real, perhaps imaginary but certainly useful – was at hand in those woods in North Carolina, a state that is home to plenty of black bears. Craven county sheriff Chip Hughes said Casey “did say that he had a friend in the woods that was a bear that was with him”.
