Orca at SeaWorld Orlando dies suddenly

A 30-year-old orca died suddenly at SeaWorld Orlando yesterday (January 28th), with veterinarians unsure what caused its death. The orca named Kayla, who was born at SeaWorld San Antonio in 1988, became sick on Saturday and her health continued to quickly worsen over the weekend, despite attempts by vets to try to help her. SeaWorld said a cause of death won't be know until a post-mortem exam is carried out. Orcas usually live to about 50 years old. SeaWorld now has 20 orcas left in its parks, five in Orlando, five in San Antonio and 10 in San Diego. It announced in 2016 that it would stop its breeding program after years of protests by animal rights activists.
