A few weeks ago, a picture of an egg got more than 52 million likes on Instagram. Yeah, just an egg. No one got it and we all wondered why it got all the attention?
Subsequent images posted of the egg have shown it getting cracks in it, and the newest video shows the egg breaking open completely.
The message that appears says, "Hi. I'm the world_record_egg (you may have heard of me.) Recently I've started to crack. The pressure of social media is getting to me. If you're struggling too, talk to someone. We got this. For more info visit TalkingEgg.info #talkingegg egg gang."
That website has links to mental health websites from around the world, including Mental Health America and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline in the U.S. A British advertising executive claims he created the egg, and at some point a decision was made to use the account's reach to highlight mental health issues.
