COP LEARNS HE WILL GET LIFE-SAVING KIDNEY TRANSPLANT THROUGH FACEBOOK

Four years ago Ryan Armistead was diagnosed with a disease that can lead to kidney failure. Doctors said he needed a transplant so his wife created a Facebook page and even went to the effort of attaching signs to the back of her car asking anyone..complete strangers..to donate. His story gained traction and caught the eye of Abbie Dunkle, a mother of two, who always wanted to be an organ donor and figured this would be the right time.

She got tested and was a match! Then she booked a surger date. She hadn't said a word to the family about her plans. She reached out to Ryan on Facebook, on the page his wife created, and introduced herself and told her about the donation.

When Armistead saw the message he “fell to his knees and started crying.” It has now been two weeks since the surgery. Dunkle and Armistead have become close, as have their families. :)
