CHURCH RAISES $100K THROUGH FAST TO PAY OFF STUDENTS' DEBT!

A Virginia church raised more than $100,000 though a fast to pay off the outstanding debts of dozens of graduating college students. The Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria has for the last few years asked the congregation to take part in a fast during the month of January by giving up luxuries like social media, junk food, or alcohol, and to donate money they'd otherwise spend on non-essential items to a good cause. This year, more than $100,000 was raised, and the church used to money to pay off the outstanding debt of 34 graduating students at Howard University in Washington D.C.
