Mega Millions Jackpot winner in South Carolina finally claims her winnings

The winner of a $1.5 billion Mega Millions jackpot in South Carolina from last October has finally come forward, with lottery officials announcing Monday (March 4th) that a state resident had claimed the prize. However, the person wants to remain anonymous, which is legal under South Carolina law. The winner of the second-largest lottery in U.S. history, who had until April 19th to claim the prize, chose to take the cash option, meaning they'll get a one-time payment of nearly $878 million. The lottery commission said the winner revealed they'd let another customer make a Mega Millions lottery ticket purchase in front of them while in line at the store, with the commission saying, "A simple act of kindness led to an amazing outcome." $878 million? How could a person live on that??
