New Jersey Town Proposes Fines, Possible Jail Time for Dog Barking

A proposed ordinance in the town of Saddle, River, New Jersey, would impose fines and even possible jail time on owners for their dogs' excessive barking. There would be a ban on loud, continuous barking for over 20 minutes during the day, and it would be reduced to 15 minutes from 10 p.m at night to 7 a.m. in the morning. Owners could face fines ranging from $100 to $1,000, and they could also receive a sentence of community service or even prison time. Saddle River officials say nonstop barking affects the, quote, "comfort or repose of anyone in the vicinity." A public hearing and vote will be held later this month. What do YOU think?
