Charleston Mom gives kidney to stranger after plea written on his mom's car

A mother’s plea for an organ donor written on the back of her van was answered by a selfless woman who donated her kidney. Lashonda Pugh had been desperately trying to find a new kidney for her 24-year-old son Daniel Jones, who has a Alport Syndrome, a genetic condition that causes progressive kidney deterioration. Starr Gardy decided to give one of her kidneys to Jones after reading Pugh’s message in the parking lot of a Walmart in Charleston, South Carolina, in November. Both Gardy and Jones are reportedly recovering in the hospital, which will take about six weeks.
