Adam Levine's former duet partner Christina Aguilera on leaving The Voice

Christina Aguilera isn’t at all surprised that Adam Levine is leaving The Voice.

The 40-year-old entertainer recently spoke out about his departure from the show and why she thought it was a good idea.

“I wasn’t surprised. You know, we held hands from the beginning of that show. We kicked it off and we didn’t know where it was gonna go, what was going to happen,” Christina explained toAccess Hollywood.

She continued, “I think there’s always a time and a place, especially as an artist, getting back into your creative mode and out of that environment is important. I gained some respect with that decision. I think it’s good to follow your heart over dollars sometimes.”

The Voice host Carson Daly made the announcement last month that Levine would not be returning to the show. Levine joined the show as a coach when it first aired in 2011, along with Blake Shelton,CeeLo Green and Aguilera.
