Neither Disney Nor Marvel Reached Out After Stan Lee's Death, Daughter Says

Stan Lee's daughter Joan Celia "JC" Lee had some damaging things to say about Marvel and Disney's alleged mistreatment of her father's legacy.

On Thursday (August 22), the 69-year-old caught up with TMZ to sound off on the megacorps' recent fallout with Sony after the conglomerates were unable to reach a financial agreement as it pertained to Spider-Man's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Apparently, the botched deal involved not only splitting any Spidey-related revenue down the middle, but would have also allowed Marvel boss Kevin Feige full control of the web-slinging character Stan helped create.

Siding with Sony, JC revealed that her late father would have admired the company's push back against Marvel and Disney, whom she claims, among other scathing accusations, never sent her family condolences after the comic legend passed away last year.

"Marvel and Disney seeking total control of my father's creations must be checked and balanced by others who, while still seeking to profit, have genuine respect for Stan Lee and his legacy," JC told the celebrity gossip outlet. "Whether it's Sony or someone else's, the continued evolution of Stan's characters and his legacy deserves multiple points of view."

“When my father died, no one from Marvel or Disney reached out to me. From day one, they have commoditized my father’s work and never shown him or his legacy any respect or decency," she continued. "In the end, no one could have treated my father worse than Marvel and Disney's executives."

As of yet, neither Marvel nor Disney has commented on JC's statements.
