How Taylor Swift helped a fan fighting cancer

Taylor Swift has donated $10,000 to help with the medical bills of a die-hard fan who threw a Lover release party from her hospital bed.

Trinity Foster, a 16-year-old Swift fan who suffers from stage 4 osteosarcoma, celebrated the release of Taylor’s seventh studio album by hosting her own release party in her hospital room on August 23rd. Expecting nothing in return, the die-hard fan shared photos of her decked-out hospital room on Instagram, which were later spotted by Taylor herself.

Taylor left a $10,000 donation on Foster’s gofundme page with a heart-felt message to her avid supporter.

“Trinity, I saw photos of your album release party that you did in your hospital room and wanted to say thank you for being so kind and supportive! I hope I can give you a hug in person soon, but in the meantime I wanted to send you this and all my love. Your friend, Taylor.”

She said she loved Taylor’s new album so much that she had to “have a party for such greatness.” So she decorated her hospital room with butterflies, hearts glitter, balloons and streamers. Many commenters on that post tagged Swift in order to get Swift’s attention.

After discovering that Swift had donated, Foster took a screenshot of the comment and uploaded it onto Instagram.

“OMG DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE thank you guys so much for tagging her and actually getting it noticed, I love every single one of u,” she wrote.

According to the description on her GoFundMe page, she was unable to get all the nutrition she needed. “I had to have a feeding tube put in because I couldn’t get enough nutrition,” Foster wrote. “The chemo is really hard for me and my insurance doesn’t cover everything that I need, we have tried to get other insurances like ten care but were told we did not apply.”

Osteosarcoma is a type of bone cancer that is particularly common among people under 25 years of age. Although the survival rate starts at 70%, once it has spread to other parts of the body, this drops to about 30%. Unfortunately, Trinity’s cancer has spread to her lungs.
