Prince Harry Asks To Be Introduced As 'Just Harry' At Final Royal Outings

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex Attends The Travelyst Sustainable Tourism Summit

On Wednesday (February 26), Prince Harry returned to the United Kingdom for the first time since Queen Elizabeth agreed to let him step down as a full-time working member of the Royal Family. Over the next few weeks, the Duke of Sussex will attend his final round of royal engagements before his non-royal life officially begins. He attended the Travalyst working summit in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he asked to be introduced by his first name only before he gave his speech.

“He wants to say a few words to kick start the day and he’s made it clear that we are all just to call him ‘Harry,'” event host Ayesha Hazarika said during her introduction of the Duke. “So, ladies and gentlemen please give a big Scottish welcome to Harry.” Despite facing some backlash for his decision to live a more private life with Meghan Markle and their son Archie in Canada, Harry was met by a round of applause from those in attendance at the event.

Though Harry asked to be introduced simply by his name at the event and has agreed not to use his HRH title going forward, he is, in fact, still a prince. Harry also remains sixth in line for the throne, following his father Prince Charles, his brother Prince William and his nephews and niece, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Harry will attend multiple royal engagements over the coming weeks before officially stepping down as a working royal. Meghan will also join Harry for a number of these engagements. They will make their first official joint appearance since early January at the Endeavour Fund Awards on March 5, followed by attending the Mountbatten Music Festival at Royal Albert Hall on March 7.
